Waldo Bronchart, Technical-Artist at Black Rock Studio
Before I started Digital Arts and Entertainment I was mostly doing webdesign. The idea of making games always fascinated me, and when I heard there was going to be a new course in Belgium to do exactly that, I enlisted right away.

During my time at DAE I learned that I have quite a broad skillset, the course was perfect for me. In the last year I was lucky enough to be able to do my internship as a Technical Artist at Black Rock Studio. I was offered a full time job after my intern and didn't hesitate to accept.

At home I'm currently working on a game called Athmos, which started as a student project with 5 other students.

Laurens Brock - Programmer Larian Studio's
I am Laurens Brock, a gameplay programmer currently working for Larian Studios in Belgium. As one of the first graduates from Digital Arts and Entertainment, I have gained already tremendous experience in the game industry during my 2 years I have been working at Crytek Germany. There I worked on some unannounced titles as well as on Crysis 2 (AAA First Person Shooter) as an UI programmer.
I have seen the good and the bad of the industry, but I still find it one of the most fascinating and best things to work for.

GameHUB: serious games & knowledge centre.
GameHUB unites game development researchers in a multidisciplinary environment. In two years, three pilot games will be developed. One of the games will focus on the history of the puppet theatre and uses a specially developed control system that lets players walk and manipulate their own digital puppet. Watch a demo of the prototype here; http://vimeo.com/21203892
In this presentation you will not only learn about these serious games, but also about the knowledge centre that will become operational in 2012.

Kenny Deriemaeker
Kenny Deriemaeker, co-founder & Creative Director of Triangle Factory.

I’m a technical artist with a broad range of focus areas. I've found myself fascinated with the artistic/design side of game development, as well as the technical/programming side. On any given day I may be polishing my 3D modelling skills, drawing up designs for a new game concept, scripting utilities with Python or MaxScript, or reading Edward Tufte. It's all equally fascinating.

I'm responsible for overseeing and managing the design and content production side of projects. Drafting design documents, talking to customers, getting my hands dirty in 3ds max or developing scripts and tools for myself and my colleagues. You have to wear many hats when trying to get a startup off the ground, no kidding!

Wim Wouters
Wim Wouters - CEO & Creative Director of GriN multimedia. Wim founded GriN in 2002 with one goal in mind: conquering the world with "online 3D games". Anno 2011, he's still true to this initial goal, but has also broadened his creative horizon.

Wim's greatest passion is his strongest asset: An unsatisfiable hunger for new technologies to develop unique, creative applications. “The fact that I refuse to specialize in just one aspect, is probably my biggest asset. Others often choose to focus on only a few technologies, or one of the markets. I don’t… I want it all! My ultimate challenge would be to create something which unites our expertise regarding multi-user gaming, social connectivity, augmented reality, mobile apps, user-generated content, etc...  A crossmedia and multimedia experience, where boundaries and boredom simply don’t exist.”

As organiser of the Belgian edition of the Global Game Jam, he believes that bringing together the community, sharing knowledge and experimenting are key to the increasing success of the international sector and vital for the survival and growth of the Belgian game industry.
